A TEENAGER was left with life-threatening injuries after his car crashed into a tree in Andover last night.

The incident took place on the Avenue just before 9.30pm on Monday, with members of the police, fire service and ambulance called to the scene.

Two 17-year-olds were trapped in their vehicle after the white Mini they had been travelling in crashed into a tree.

The passenger escaped with minor injuries before being taken to Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital.

The driver sustained serious and potentially life-threatening injuries and after initial treatment at the scene, was taken to the major trauma unit at University Hospital Southampton.

An air ambulance team travelled with the patient after two ambulances, a rapid response vehicle, an ambulance officer and the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance Critical Care Car had been called to the scene at 9.27pm.

Fire crews from Andover and Basingstoke were also in attendance and had to cut one of the injured men out of his vehicle before leaving him in the care of the ambulance service.

The fire service had been called to the scene at 9.32pm and remained there for almost an hour before leaving at 10.23pm.

Police were also present and have appealed to anyone who witnessed the incident, or captured the vehicle on dashcam, to get contact them on 101, quoting 44190331216.
