THIS is the moment a brazen thief attempted to gain access to a van parked on a driveway in a residential street in Andover at the weekend.
The incident is believed to be one of a spate of thefts that took place during the early hours of Sunday morning in the Wolversdene Road area.
Police have confirmed that three thefts from parked vans were reported.
In two incidents, tools were stolen, with personal items taken during the third theft.
However, witnesses claim that up to six vans were targeted in total, including the one parked in a driveway and others left on the street in front of the owners’ houses.
One of the residents, who shared the above CCTV footage, says the tools that were taken from two of the vans are worth thousands of pounds.
The resident also believes that more than one person was behind the thefts, adding: “I can see on my CCTV the guy had come in car and he had parked up. Someone else was sat in that car because the brake lights were on.
“It’s a well-planned job, it’s not spur of the moment.”
Police have confirmed that enquiries are ongoing.
