THESE are some of the people from Andover and the surrounding areas to recently appear in court:

JOSHUA Michael Gilman, 24, of Saddle Way, Picket Twenty. Pleaded guilty to driving a motor vehicle on Weyhill Road while under the influence of drugs on March 1, 2019. Fined £400 and ordered to pay £85 in costs and £40 victim surcharge. Also disqualified from driving for 12 months.

SIAN Johns, 25, of East Anton Farm Road, Andover. Pleaded guilty to nine counts of assault by beating between August 19 and September 8, 2019. Sentenced to eight weeks, suspended for six months. Also pleaded guilty to assault by beating of a police sergeant on September 8, 2019.

PAUL Benjamin Foakes-Tiffin, 43, of Gardeners Green, Shipton Bellinger, Tidworth. Charged with three counts of theft at Andover between June 17 and July 8, 2019, one count of assault and one count of using threatening/abusive language on July 8, 2019. Remanded on unconditinoal bail until October 9, 2019 at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court.

ELLIOT James Dinwoodie, 23, of Church Road, Fleet. Found guilty of failing to give information relating to the driver of a Volkswagen Golf at Whitchurch on February 7. Fined £450 and ordered to pay £150 in costs and a £45 victim surcharge. Also received six penalty points.

ROBERT Banning, 76, of Newtown Road, Newbury. Appeared at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court charged with five counts of sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl between July 1, 2018 and February 7, 2019, and two counts of making indecent photographs of a child between July 1, 2018 and February 15, 2019, at Overton. Will appear at Winchester Crown Court on October 23, 2019. No indication of plea given.

JAMES Anthony Chandler, 39, of Quicksilver Way, Picket Twenty. Pleaded not guilty of possession of a bladed article, namely a razor blade, in a public place, namely Quicksilver Way, on September 7, 2019. Remanded on unconditional bail until trial at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on December 6, 2019.

ALEXANDER Ciurtin, 32, of Malvern Road, Leytonstone, London. Pleaded not guilty to driving a Mercedes on Hatherden Lane, Hatherden without due care and attention. Also pleaded not guilty to having tyres with tread patterns of a depth of less than 1.6mm on the near side and offside rear tyres on the same vehicle. Adjourned to Aldershot Magistrates’ Court on November 27, 2019 for the trial.
