WHILE businesses are often judged on their services, a name can go a long way to creating a great first impression.

The Bolton News has picked out some of the 'punniest' around ...

Steaks On a Plane

The Bolton News:

Where else can we start really?

The steak restaurant in Deane Road has become something of a local landmark since it launched in 2017.

A spectacular play on words referencing Samuel L Jackson thriller ‘Snakes on a Plane’, the eatery is exactly what it says on the tin - or rather, plane.

Diners can sit inside a sawn-off Boeing 737 aircraft and tuck into a steak.

The plane replaced a hollowed double decker bus restaurant on the same site.

The food is great as well.

Curl Up and Dye

The Bolton News:

The first of two salons on this list, Curl Up and Dye is named with the sort of dark humour that northerners are renowned for.

It is based just over the bridge from New Bury, in Cleggs Lane, Little Hulton.

The salon has been going for well over 40 years and owner Joy Daley offers a range of cuts as well as curling and dyeing.

M.T. Belly’s

The Bolton News:

If you have an empty belly why not give this Blackburn Road takeaway a visit?

An Indian takeaway by trade, its burgers are also very popular.

It also sells Ben & Jerry’s ice cream if you can manage a dessert.

Lock ‘n’ Roll

The Bolton News:

While perhaps slightly more subtle than Curl Up and Dye, Lock ‘n’ roll is still a pun-derful name for a hairdressers.

Opened by Ruth Lomax in 1994, the Bromley Cross business has built up a loyal customer base.

Based in Turton Road, there is also a nail technician upstairs.

Tonge Thai

The Bolton News:

As well as being a great pun Tonge Thai keeps its customers coming back with its food which is frequently hailed as “amazing” on Trip Advisor.

Reviewers recommend its king prawns and green curry.
