A MAN has been killed after being hit by a train in Salisbury.
The British Transport Police confirmed this morning that the incident took place on tracks near The Brambles, just off the A30.
The identity of the victim, who was aged in his 40s, has not been released.
His death is also not being treated as suspicious.
A BTP spokesperson said: "We were called at 10.48am following a report of a casualty on an area of railway near The Brambles, Salisbury.
"Officers attended alongside paramedics, but sadly a man in his 40s was pronounced dead at the scene.
"Officers are in the process of preparing a report for the coroner."
As reported, yesterday's incident suspended trains between Salisbury and Romsey – via Southampton Central and Eastleigh.
