BBC's Question Time will no longer be held at Albert Halls due to "logistical issues".

The weekly BBC One debate, which allows audience members to question a panel of politicians, journalists and public figures had been due to come to the Victoria Square venue on Thursday November 21.

BBC has confirmed that while the show is still coming to Bolton on that date, it will be from a different venue.

The venue is yet to be announced.

Question Time

I wanted to pick up on your enquiry below. Question Time will still be filmed in Bolton but just at a different venue. We had to change venues due to logistical issues but we will definitely still be broadcasting from Bolton!

BOLTON’S Albert Halls will host BBC’s Question Time more than six months after the controversial decision to move live filming to London.

The weekly BBC One debate, which allows audience members to question a panel of politicians, journalists and public figures, had been due to air from the town centre venue back in April.

But April 4’s show was broadcast from Dulwich to allow politicians attending Brexit debates at Westminster to take part, prompting accusations of bias.

A video posted on Twitter at the time featured host Fiona Bruce saying: “To make sure we have some of the important players coming on the programme we have had to move our programme down to London.”

The move prompted an angry reaction online with some social media users saying moving filming from Bolton, where 58% voted to leave the EU, ensured a pro-EU audience in London, which voted to remain. Bolton West MP, Chris Green even raised the issue in Parliament where he accused the national broadcaster of failing to represent the north of England.

“It’s good news and what we wanted all along,” said Ian Warren, of think tank Centre for Towns, who were critical of the original decision. “We were very offended by the decision as it felt like the BBC were turning their nose up at the north so I’m glad they’ve seen sense. We were inundated at the time with calls from people who were annoyed so this is the right thing to do.”
