AN ANDOVER school has been forced to close its doors today (Friday) after a "significant number" of staff and children have been affected by a sickness bug.
Both campuses of Endeavour Primary School, on Augusta Park, are shut after several pupils and staff have been sent home throughout the week.
The sickness bug in question causes severe vomiting and diarrhoea which lasts up to 48 hours.
Headteacher Helen Palmer said: "This decision has not been taken lightly to close the school because we know and appreciate the disruption it causes to our families. This is the best option to ensure the safety and well-being of all the Endeavour community.
"This closure will allow the school to complete a deep clean of both campuses to minimise the risk of further infection."
The school has said that it plans to re-open on Monday, October 14.
