THIS week at the Advertiser, we are launching our search to find the nicest person in Andover.

We want to track down one wonderful individual to officially award them the title of Andover’s Nicest Person.

The world can at times feel overwhelming negative, but here at the Advertiser we want to rediscover the positive.

We know first-hand that the town is filled with everyday heroes who are silently going above and beyond every day for others.

Andover Advertiser:

And it is high time that these people receive the recognition they deserve.

So today to you dear reader, I appeal to you to think about those incredible human beings in your life who make a difference.

Perhaps you know someone who gives up hours of their time to help an elderly neighbour.

There might be a teacher at school who has made it their mission to help a child succeed.

Maybe there is a colleague at work who can’t help but put others first.

Or there might be a volunteer you know who dedicates their lives to helping people without ever asking for anything in return.

As journalists, we unfortunately have to spend a lot of time covering the sad or bad stories so this week, we are asking for your help to unearth the good ones too.

There are no restrictions or restraints in who can be nominated. The competition is open to all ages, backgrounds and persons.

To enter, simply email or write to Katie French at the Andover Advertiser with 250 words about the individual you would like to nominate for Andover’s Nicest Person award. Please include a photograph of them and your contact details. The email is newsdesk@andoveradvertiser.co.uk .

The closing date for nominations is Thursday, October 31.

Eight finalists will be selected by our team here at the Advertiser and will be featured in the paper next month.

Readers will then be able to vote for their overall winner online.

The lucky person will be announced in the paper on Friday, November 15.

The prize is a three-course meal at a top restaurant and an overnight stay and of course, a big bunch of flowers.
