A WELL-LOVED charity shop has closed its doors for the final time.

The Wessex Cancer Trust shop, in High Street, Overton, ceased trading last week and the unit has since been vacated.

Bosses say the decision to close was due to the “economic climate affecting the retail sector”.

The charity’s retail manager Caroline Harrison-Keen said: “It was with real sadness that we took the decision to close our Overton shop. Since the shop opened in January 2017, the shop team worked really hard to spread the word throughout the local community.

“Although the shop was well known and supported, the economic climate affecting the retail sector generally made things really tough.

“So with an opportunity to end the lease arising we took the difficult but responsible decision to close.

“We’d like to thank everyone who worked so hard to support us over the years.”
