Informed decision
DURING the last three years much has been said about ‘respecting the will of the people’.
I would subscribe to this wholeheartedly if all had played by the rules. Unfortunately, the ‘Leave’ campaign started off with a big lie (on Boris’s Battle bus) and continued with a substantial overspend, which they tried to cover up. Cambridge Analytica was also employed, using unpermitted Facebook data to influence people on the margin.
With such a small majority — 52 per cent to 48 per cent — this sort of abuse (corruption?) is important and could be critical.
Democracy, if it means anything, surely means allowing the people to make an informed decision and not be misinformed.
