POLICE have launched an investigation this morning after a man was killed in a "fail-to-stop" collision in Andover last night.

The 38-year-old man, from the town, was struck by a car in Charlton Road, near to the junction with Parkview Close, at around 6.40pm last night, according to Hampshire Constabulary.

They have opened an investigation into the incident.

A spokesperson said that despite best efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed.

Officers investigating the collision are now looking for the driver of a Janguar XJ which they believe was involved in the incident.

Poice have described the incident as "very serious", and want to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who has dash cam footage of the moments leading up to it.

Inspector Steve Wakeford, of the Roads Policing Unit, said: “This is a very serious incident and we urgently need to speak with the driver involved.

“We have recovered vehicle debris from the scene and our investigations are underway. I would urge the driver to contact us as soon as possible.

“I would also like to hear from anyone who was in Charlton Road and can assist us with our enquiries.”

Officers are pleading for any witnesses who may have been in the area at the time or who have since sent a damaged Jaguar XJ today to come forward.
