POLICE have released CCTV of a man they wish to speak in relation to a robbery at an Andover shop.

The incident took place at around 9.20pm on Thursday, January 2, at the Tesco Express store in Cricketers Way.

A man entered the store and demanded the shop worker give him money.

When he was told there was none, he attempted to hit the till before fleeing when more staff arrived.

No money was taken and no injuries were reported.

The culprit is described as white, around six feet tall, between 30 and 40 years of age and of a big build.

He was wearing black trainers with white soles, blue jeans, a dark coloured jacket with a maroon coloured hooded top underneath with the hood up, dark coloured bandana across face, dark coloured gloves.

Police have since released a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to in connection to the incident.

An appeal has also been made to anyone who might have seen anything or been in the area at the time of the robbery.

A statement from Hampshire Constabulary read: “Were you in this area at the time? Did you see anything suspicious? Perhaps you remember seeing a man nearby in similar clothes? Did you see where he went after leaving the shop?

“Anyone with information should call police on 101, quoting the crime reference number 44200002207.

“Alternatively, people can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, where information can be left anonymously.”
