Police warn residents and local business owners about a number of fake £50 notes in circulation around Andover.

Officers have warned shop assistants across the borough to "keep on your guard when presented with a £50 note, especially when the person is attempting to purchase something of a low value."

In 2021, the bank of England are set to issue a polymer note featuring Alan Turing which will reduce the issue of fake £50 notes.

The Bank of England decided to change to polymer banknotes in September 2016 because they are cleaner, stronger and much harder for fraudsters to replicate.
