POLICE have issued a word of caution to motorcyclists after attending an off-road hotspot in Andover.

Officers say they responded to a report of off-road motorbikes using ‘the Plannies’, a disused chalk pit known as the plantation, near Ladies Walk, Andover, today (Saturday).

Riders from Southampton had been using the off-road track under the impression that they were entitled to do so.

However, police have confirmed that no such bikes are permitted at the site and the riders were moved on.

A message shared via the Hampshire Police Rural Twitter page read: “We can confirm there is no permission for any bikes.

“Please share this information with motorsports communities.”
