THE young team behind a successful magazine spent their half-term building a brand new business.

Many of the same enterprising youngsters who make #iDare have joined a new challenge to create a digital marketing agency called Digiteers, which will provide digital expertise to good causes and small firms.

They’ve been rushed off their feet, starting and completing big projects for three different clients in just five days. They made a video about the Platform Project for Wiltshire Community Foundation, had a go at renaming and redesigning the branding for Swindon CCG’s Mental Health Trailblazer scheme and improved a client’s online presence.

Leon Watts, 16, said: “I loved the challenge, it’s been brilliant working in this place with such a good team. This has been really good for my confidence and I’ve learned a lot.”

Zach Allison, 15, said: “It’s been really interesting finding out what the client wants and brainstorming ideas. I was on iDare and it’s been great meeting new people, understand what they’re going through and being more sociable.”

Shreya Pradeep, 12, said: “I’ve improved my knowledge and confidence, gained skills and had fun. I’ve learned how capable I really am.”

Scott Gulliver of Fluff Digital advised and trained the students in the technical skills they are now putting to good use.

He said: “We wanted to help and It’s been great to see them face so many challenges and come up with such creative ideas.”

Platform Project director Sadie Sharp said: “Without Scott, we could not have got this off the ground, so we’re very grateful. Now we’re getting ready for our official launch in a couple of weeks. The social enterprise will fund itself through what clients pay for the team’s work

Gary Lawrence of Wiltshire Community Foundation said: “A digital agency usually takes months to complete a brief, but these amazing young people have done three in one week. It’s great to see them harnessing their creativity and helping others.

“Everyone wins. They got to talk about how the project has helped them, we have a video to show our supporters where their money is going, and the group gets something they can use to encourage other clients to hire them.”
