DOCTORS and nurses will soon have to pay for parking when they turn up to work at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital.
Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has decided to start charging staff for parking.
It feels wrong for anyone to have to pay for parking at work, especially those who spend their day saving lives.
You might wonder why the Trust has made this decision. Research gives you the answer.
Hospitals that charge staff and visitors for parking find it is extremely lucrative. In 2017-18, Trusts made more than £226million from parking fees.
Nurses and doctors are now expected to pay for parking at 348 out of 1,175 hospitals nationally.
