ANDOVER town council has become the first local authority to announce the offering of emergency funding for coronavirus support groups.
The authority will be offering the funds to community groups and organisations that are working to help Andover cope with the outbreak of the virus.
A notice on the council’s website reads: “The funding is only open to organisations and community groups within Andover or who can prove they provide a significant contribution to the residents of Andover during the coronavirus outbreak.”
Town councillor David Coole says that plans for the scheme were broached more than a week ago, with the council announcing the rollout of the support on Friday, March 27.
Test Valley Borough Council have since announced further aid in the form of a £10,000 grants package, with groups able to apply for up to £500 in funding each.
