A HOUSING association has pledged to find new homes to suit the needs of residents at risk of being displaced by a proposed demolition project.

Aster has applied for planning permission to tear down four sets of garages in Galahad Close and Camelot Close, with a view to replacing them with new flats and parking courts.

Above the existing garages are 15 bungalows, which would also be demolished.

Documents lodged with the planning application note that tenants currently renting the garages would be relocated to other unused sites in the area.

And now the company says that regarding the bungalows, it will work with residents to make moving home “as easy as possible” if the project gets the go-ahead.

A spokesperson for the company said: “If planning permission is approved, we will work with our customers to find a new home that meets their needs.

“We know how disruptive moving can be so we will make it is as easy as possible so that our customers only have to move once.

“For those customers currently renting a garage from us in King Arthur’s Way, an alternative garage in the area will be available to rent should they wish.”
