MORE than 600 people in Cumbria have now been diagnosed with coronavirus, new figures reveal.

Public Health England confirmed over the weekend that 629 patients have tested positive for the disease across the county.

Across the North West 4,093 patients have tested positive compared to 10,764 in London, 4,177 in the South East, 1,536 in the South West, 2,613 in the East of England, 6,127 in the Midlands, and 4,092 in the North East and Yorkshire.

The UK has now recorded 41,903 confirmed cases with 4,313 deaths.

Public Health England reported 708 new deaths on Saturday.

As of 9am on Saturday, 195,524 people have been tested, of which 47,806 were confirmed positive.

Meanwhile, people with potential coronavirus symptoms are now being asked to take part in a national survey.

Anyone who has experienced symptoms is asked to complete a status checker and answer a short series of questions which will tell the NHS about their experience.

It is open to anyone in the UK to use and health bosses are particularly keen for anyone who thinks they may be displaying potential coronavirus symptoms, no matter how mild, to complete it.

Health Secretary Matt Hancock said: "If anyone has experienced symptoms I would urge you to use our new status checker app to help us to collect essential information on the virus and allow us to better allocate NHS resources where they are needed most."
