POLICE have been carrying out speed checks near Andover over the weekend.

Officers were conducting speed enforcement checks on Sunday along Tidworth Road, in Porton.

Five verbal warnings were given out and one fixed penalty notice issued to a driver who was behind the wheel without a valid MOT – it had expired in February of this year.

It comes after officers carried out similar checks in the Collingbournes on Wednesday of last week, when six traffic offence reports were doled out.

And the Tuesday before that, a driver was clocked at 49mph outside Tidworth police station as part of ongoing speed checks in the Tidworth and Ludgershall area.

Police say they will continue to conduct similar checks at Community Speed Watch sites across the area.
