A MAN who blew more than twice the legal drink driving limit at 6am has been arrested and had his vehicle seized.
Police say that night shift officers were dispatched to a report of a car driving erratically down the A303 eastbound, towards Amesbury.
The vehicle was stopped and the driver provided a positive specimen of breath.
He was arrested for drink driving and also for having no insurance.
Officers took him to Melksham police station where he provided two specimens of breath, both of which were just under twice the limit.
His vehicle, a black BMW, was seized for having no insurance.
PC Myles Scott said: "Even at 6am in the morning the driver blew over twice the limit at the roadside.
“This goes to demonstrate again how careful drivers must be when deciding to get into their cars the next morning.
“Luckily on this occasion a member of the public alerted us this vehicle and we were able to get it stopped before anyone was injured."
Any reports of drink drivers can be made via 101 or 999 in an emergency.
