A MAN who was arrested after police found him driving erratically on the A303 has now been charged, officers have confirmed.

The incident happened at around 6am on Monday morning on the A303 eastbound, near Amesbury.

Police responded to a report of a man driving erratically and after pulling the driver over, he blew twice the legal drink driving limit in a roadside breath test.

He was also found to be driving without insurance and was arrested and taken to Melksham police station, while his BMW was also seized.

Officers have now confirmed that they have charged a man in relation to the incident.

Ramesh Manohar, of Lapwing Close, in Yeovil, Somerset, has been charged with drink driving and driving without insurance.

Police say the 33-year-old has been released on unconditional bail.

Speaking after the initial arrest, PC Myles Scott said: "Even at 6am in the morning the driver blew over twice the limit at the roadside.

“This goes to demonstrate again how careful drivers must be when deciding to get into their cars the next morning.

“Luckily on this occasion a member of the public alerted us this vehicle and we were able to get it stopped before anyone was injured."

Any reports of drink drivers can be made via 101 or 999 in an emergency.
