THE ASSISTANT Chief Constable of Hampshire Police has thanked employers for allowing volunteer officers to work during Covid-19.

As National Volunteer's Week came to an end yesterday, ACC Scott Chilton released a special message on the force's Twitter account, thanking all of their volunteers as well as their employers who have allowed them to miss work to help the force as they continue to respond to Covid-19.

ACC Chilton said: "As the gold commander for the police response to Covid-19, I am very aware of the significant and fantastic support that employers have given to the special constabulary in allowing their staff to come and work for us.

"The contribution made has been fantastic and has ensured that the police can do the very best it possibly can to support the public and stop the infection.

"I am incredibly grateful for the contribution you have made in allowing your staff to come and work for the police as special constables during this period, and during very difficult times for yourself, so a huge thank you."
