ANDOVER hospital is a Covid-free site for the first time in over three months, The Gazette can reveal.
HAMPSHIRE Hospitals Foundation Trust (HHFT) has announced to this newspaper that all three of its hospitals in Basingstoke, Winchester and Andover are now clear of coronavirus.
The Trust has confirmed that there are no Covid positive patients across their hospitals for the first time since lockdown.
A spokesperson from HHFT exclusively told The Gazette: “We are delighted to say that – thanks to the enormous efforts of our staff – Hampshire Hospitals do not currently (June 19) have any Covid positive patients.
"However, no one should be complacent; this changes daily and the virus remains a very real threat.
“As such, it is just as important as ever for people to follow government guidelines, wash their hands thoroughly and follow social distancing.”
One resident said: "There are currently ZERO patients being treated for Covid 19 at Basingstoke, Winchester and Andover Hospitals. Pretty awesome news!"
The news comes after no new deaths were reported at Hampshire Hospitals for the fourth day in a row, as of yesterday.
Figures released by NHS England showed that amongst the new deaths recorded in the past 24 hours, none were at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Andover, Basingstoke and Winchester hospitals.
It comes as England moves closer to 29,000 coronavirus-related deaths in hospitals.
