A man from Overton has been charged with assaulting a police officer and wielding a hammer in Andover town centre.

Simon Ronald Beynon, of Pond Close, was accused of assaulting PC Warren on Junction Road, Andover on March 14.

He’s also accused of having a hammer in New Street, Andover, without reasonable excuse on April 19.

His case has been adjourned, because of the coronavirus pandemic, until August 4, where his case will be mentioned next.

The 42-year-old has been remanded on bail on the condition that he must not enter New Street, or leave his home address “other than for the purposes of work or any other essential journey as specified by HM Government’s coronavirus guidelines”.

Mr Beynon has not yet entered a plea.

The case of a man who has been charged with driving a car without a licence or insurance has been delayed.

Alexander John Anderson, whose address is listed in court documents as 'no fixed abode and Hampshire', is alleged to have driven a blue BMW 116 on Churchill Way in Andover on March 23, when he was uninsured and when he did not hold the correct licence.

The case has been adjourned until August 4, where the defendant is not expected to attend. No plea has been entered.

The trial of a man charged with assaulting a man in Andover last year is due to take place next month.

James O'Connor, of Winchester Road in Popham, is accused of assaulting a man in the town on October 26, 2019.

He's also accused of causing more than £1,500 of damage to a Citroen Picasso that belonged to the victim.

The 34-year-old, who pleaded guilty to the charges earlier this year, is on unconditional bail until the trial begin on July 29 at Aldershot Magistrates' Court.

A woman from Saxon Fields has been charged with drink driving.

Jacqueline Philomena Walsh, of Oldenburg Close, is accused of driving a red Kia Sportage on January 28, whilst unfit to do so.

She is due at Basingstoke Magistrates' Court on July 20 where she will enter a plea.

The 48-year-old had previously pleaded not guilty to failing to give a specimen of breath for testing when she was stopped in connection with the same incident.

Miss Walsh is on unconditional bail.
