THE NEXT step in the town centre’s regeneration journey is set to be taken tonight (Tuesday, July 14).

Bracknell Forest Council’s top team is set to award a contract to developers who will build around 700 new homes at three town centre sites.

The joint venture, which will see the council partner up with the developer in a 50:50 agreement, would see BFC offer up Market Street, Jubilee Gardens and Coopers Hill as well as millions in cash to kickstart the project.

Exactly how much BFC will contribute to the joint venture is unknown as financial details connected to tonight’s decision are tightly under wraps.

However, a December 2019 budget report indicated the contribution could be more than £5 million.

The award of the contract to a preferred bidder follows the shortlisting of five suppliers vying for the partnership.

It is not clear when building work would start on the new sites.
