Police were called Watermills Park on Wednesday following a report of anti-social behaviour and also a report of a man seen with a gun.
A spokesman for Test Valley Police said: "The male was quickly located by officers and arrested for firearm and drug offences.
"Please rest assure that the firearm was a BB gun, but you can never be too careful."
_Police added that they have received more reports of ASB within park and lake areas recently. As a result officers have stepped up patrols.
"If you see us walking or cycling the parks and lakes, please be sure to let us know of any concerns you may have and we’ll deal with them as best we can," police said.
"Our patrols will continue in order to disrupt and disperse any gatherings causing ASB."
