The A303 junction for Tidworth is to be closed across a period of six weeks from September 21, Highways England have announced.

Work is taking place at the Parkhouse Cross junction with the A338, used to access Tidworth and Shipton Bellinger, to resurface and widen the slip road.

The resurfacing works will take place over three nights from Monday September 21, with the eastbound exit and entry slip roads closed completely from 9pm to 6am.

Traffic will be diverted via the A343 Hundred Acre/Monxton Interchange for traffic wanting to get off the A303 at the junction, while those wishing to join will be sent to the Solstice Park Interchange in Amesbury.

Work to widen the eastbound exit slip road to two lanes where it joins the A338, and widen the turn onto Salisbury Road for the entry slip road, will see the entry slip road closed completely during the works. The exit slip road will be open during the day, but may be closed from 9pm to 6am as is required.

Traffic wishing to join the A303 will be sent west to the Countess Roundabout in Amesbury and then back, while those wishing to exit will be sent to the Hundred Acre/Weyhill roundabout and around to return to the junction.

The work was originally scheduled for June and July, but was pushed back after consultation with the local highway authority.
