Police in Tidworth are appealing for witnesses after a boy was robbed in broad daylight at knifepoint.

The incident occurred at around 4:30pm on Sunday, October 11 on a grassed area near a play park on Pennings Road.

The 12-year-old victim was threatened with a knife and had his bag, containing a sum of money, stolen by the assailants, who Wiltshire Police believe to be a gang of youths. Although said to be shaken and upset, the boy was unharmed in the incident.

Detective Constable Caroline Biggs said: "This was a distressing incident for the boy and luckily he was unhurt.

"I can understand this type of incident will be of concern to the local community and I can assure everyone in the town that we are doing everything to find these suspects.

"The area it happened in is next to a busy road so I believe someone would have seen or heard something - especially as it was still daylight.
