Charlton residents have been reminded to avoid Foxcotte Road next Monday as a new bridge is installed.
On October 26, a new footpath and cycle bridge will be craned into place after a campaign by the parish council.
The bridge will connect Foxcotte Road to Charlton Lakes, and will be located near Mercia Avenue. This will provide a new shared access route leading users towards the Lakeside Café.
To enable the bridge to be installed, Foxcotte Road will be closed between 9.30am and 1pm. A diversion will be put in place.
The installation of the bridge comes after an ongoing campaign by Charlton Parish Council, which in 2019 asked residents to confirm their support for a bridge “after many years of discussion and disappointment.”
Work was originally planned to be completed by Easter, but was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
