At a loss for lobster? Fresh out of fruit? If these situations are facing you, one Stockbridge business now has the answer.

The Food Forager is a new delivery service that aims to provide local produce to residents across the area, offering everything from gourmet treats such as lobster and truffles to staples such as bread, cheese and vegetables.

The startup was founded by the Thyme & Tides deli on Stockbridge High Street. The idea initially resulted from deliveries to the surrounding area during lockdown, which has now been scaled up to cover further afield. Now, anyone anywhere in the UK can have produce delivered to them.

Thyme & Tides’ founder Iain Hemming said that it was an “exciting” time for the company.

He said: “Probably the most exciting part of The Food Forager is that we’re focusing primarily on sourcing and supplying local produce and supporting small, local start-ups.

“It’s a way of nurturing upcoming talent and helping put these brilliant small businesses on the map locally, while also giving our customers access to new and exciting products. It’s a win-win really. We’re also working closely with Hampshire Fare who have contacts with many great local suppliers.”

He said that The Food Forager aims to have a low carbon footprint, with eco-friendly packaging. This ethos also extends to their opening premises next door to its parent company in Stockbridge. Managing director David Rippington said that he hoped customers could “pop in, have a chat and pick up their shopping.”

He said: “Those who know us will know that we love getting to know our customers, so we’re running The Food Forager in the same friendly way.”

The Food Forager is located in The Old Police House on Stockbridge High Street.
