Warrant issued

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of an Andover man charged with drug driving.

Abdulhakin Mohamed Ahmed, of Turin Court, was charged with driving while his levels of THC, a chemical found in cannabis, were 3.5 microgrammes per litre of blood. The legal limit is two microgrammes.

Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court issued a warrant for the 22-year-old’s arrest.

Vehicle charges

A 33-year-old from Collingbourne Ducis is to stand trial after crashing an unlawfully taken vehicle.

Jonathan Christian T Lane, of Knapp Close, has been charged with taking a vehicle from Andover on July 18, 2019, and causing damage of less than £5000 before it was recovered.

Lane is also charged with driving the same vehicle while disqualified and driving without insurance on Monxton Road in Grateley on the same day.

After being required to provide a blood specimen, he failed to do so, and so has also been charged with this offence.

Lane has been remanded on bail for the four offences until June 14 2021, when he is due to stand trial at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court.

He has pleaded not guilty to all the offences.

Harassment

A pensioner has pleaded guilty to harassing an Andover man.

Leonard Robert Harris, of Tintagel Close, admitted using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause harassment, alarm or distress.

The 69-year-old was ordered to pay £100 in compensation by Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court, and received a conditional discharge for 12 months.

Drink driving

A man from St Mary Bourne has been fined after pleading guilty to being found twice over the drink drive limit.

Peter David Shillingford, of Stevens Green, was found in Overton to have 71 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.

The 59-year-old was ordered to pay a fine of £553, as well as a victim surcharge of £55 and costs of £85. He was also disqualified from holding a driving license for three years.
