An Andover nursery group has opened a new branch as it expands in Hampshire.

Finkley Down Farm Nursery & Pre-School opened premises in East Anton on Friday, April 16. The company already has sites at Finkley Down Farm and Weeke near Winchester.

The ribbon on the new site was cut by the leader of Test Valley Borough Council, Councillor Phil North, who wished them well for their site.

Finkley Down Farm Nursery & Pre-School opened in 2017, promising a “wholly different approach” to early years care in the Andover area. A partnership between Finkley Down Farm and a Whitchurch childminder, Alison Dennis, saw the group form its first nursery at the farm with an emphasis on learning through play.

Since then, the group has opened a further site at Weeke to expand its offering to new families, with the new East Anton site now joining it.

The new, purpose-built premises were decorated with balloons and ribbons before it was officially opened by Cllr North. The new nursery and pre-school is adjacent to the Augusta Park Community Centre.

Finkley Down Farm Nursery & Pre-School said the new site “gives the children access to fields and large open spaces whilst still being close enough to Finkley Down Farm for visits. It combines excellent purpose-built facilities with the award-winning Finkley Down Farm.”

They added that it would allow them to provide “a safe, secure and stimulating environment for children aged 2-5 years to learn and discover through play.”

Cllr North wished the organisation good luck, saying: “As they open their second premises in Andover at Augusta Park, I was pleased to be able to cut the ribbon for them in a small outside ceremony on Friday.

“The Finkley Down nurseries are incredibly popular as the children get regular interaction with the animals, collecting eggs and bottle feeding lambs. I wish them well in their new venture - another great facility for our town.”
