Two people were injured when the car they were travelling in struck a lamppost on Enham Arch roundabout.
The red Mini Cooper was left lying on its side after leaving the roundabout near Tesco Extra at around 7:30pm on April 19, coming to rest on its side. Two occupants were trapped in the car and were rescued by fire crews.
The A3093 towards Walworth roundabout was closed for some time after the incident occurred as recovery and cleanup took place.
Emergency services were first called to the scene of the crash at 7:36pm yesterday (Monday, April 19). The Mini had left the road and collided with a lamppost and nearby railings. This caused it to roll and stay stationary on its side.
The car suffered significant damage in the crash, with two occupants trapped inside the vehicle. Fire crews from Andover Fire Station attended and used the jaws of life to cut open the roof of the car and rescue the people inside.
In a statement, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue said: "Andover Fire Station crews attended a Road Traffic Collision in River Way involving two casualties extricated from the vehicle."
The occupants are said to have suffered minor injuries but are otherwise unharmed.
Fire crews and ambulances had left the scene after 9:15pm, with police and recovery teams remaining on site, as well as SSE staff due to the lamppost damage.
The road remained closed as the Mini was righted and loaded onto the back of a recovery vehicle, which took place at around 10:20pm. The road was subsequently reopened once the debris was cleared.
In a statement, Hampshire Constabulary said: “Our officers were called out to an incident at 7.36pm yesterday evening (April 19) following reports of a single-vehicle collision on Watery Lane, Andover. A red Mini left the road, hit a lamppost and remained stationary on its side.
“Two people suffered minor injuries.
“No arrests have been made at this stage.”
The incident follows that another roundabout being blocked by an overturned vehicle in Andover. In March, the Portway Roundabout was partially blocked after a lorry overturned, with specialist recovery vehicles needed to lift it onto its wheels.
