FIREFIGHTERS have rescued a dog at the scene of a house fire in Picket Piece this afternoon (Friday, June 4).

Andover and Whitchurch crews were mobilised at 3.08pm to a fire at a property on Mundy Road in Picket Piece, after a caller reported flames and an alarm sounding.

A Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson told the Advertiser that no casualties were involved.

However, one dog was removed from the property and passed into the care of a neighbour.

They said: "The fire has now been extinguished by HIWFRS crews using two sets of breathing apparatus, one hose reel, two jets and tactical ventilation fans to remove smoke.

"Further resources have been stood down."
