A London man has been arrested following a police pursuit at a popular beauty spot in Andover.
The 21-year-old was arrested on Wednesday, June 9, following a chase involving officers and a police dog at Ladies Walk to the south of the town.
The Southwark man was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a Class A drug, and possession of criminal property.
The chase took place at around 11:30 in the morning on June 9, when officers received a report of a possible drug deal taking place on Ladies Walk.
Officers approached the man, at which point he ran off towards Wool Grove. They pursued him, alongside police dog Mitch, and managed to stop him for a search under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act.
Cash, a phone, and suspected Class A drugs were seized at the scene, leading to the man, from Southwark, being arrested. He has been released from custody but remains under investigation.
Ladies Walk in Andover was laid out in 1785, making use of part of the Mark Way, and features a Grade II listed iron bridge.
