Police officers have issued an advice to football fans in Andover ahead of England's next Euro 2020 knockout clash against Denmark on Wednesday.

With large numbers of fans now gathering in pubs to watch the previous matches against Germany and Ukraine, police officers were out patrolling the watering holes of Andover.

A spokesperson for the Hampshire Constabulary said: “Our advice is to drink sensibly and safely, and to follow all remaining Covid restrictions and guidance.”

Police also confirmed that they will have additional resources on for the people who seek to ruin the fun for others.

The spokesperson said: “The tournament has been a fantastic event so far, with the national team doing so well, and we hope that continues.

“We’re pleased that the vast majority of fans have been enjoying the experience safely and responsibly.

“Clearly pubs and bars will be busier than normal for the England match on Wednesday evening.

“We will continue to work with licensed premises, providing them with best practice and guidance to ensure they are fully prepared.

“As with previous England games, we will have additional resources on for any minority that seeks to ruin it for others, but we really hope it will be a time of enjoyment and celebration.”

There were no major police incidents on Saturday during England's quarter-final game against Ukraine.

England will host Denmark for their Euro 2020 semi-final showdown at Wembley on Wednesday.
