FOOD hygiene ratings for three restaurants in Basingstoke have been published by the Food Standards Agency
Listed below are the latest findings of council inspectors.
Restaurants across Basingstoke are rated by the Food Standards Agency which are based on an assessment carried out by local authority experts.
The hygiene standards found at the time of inspection are then rated on a scale from zero to five.
- Five is the best rating, meaning standards are very good and fully comply with the law.
- Four means hygiene ratings are very good.
- Three means hygiene standards are generally satisfactory.
- Two means some improvement is necessary.
- One means major improvement is necessary.
- Zero is the worst, meaning urgent improvement is necessary.
Inspectors assess three things:
- How hygienically the food is handled – how it is prepared, cooked, re-heated, cooled and stored
- The condition of the structure of the buildings – the cleanliness, layout, lighting, ventilation, and other facilities
- How the business manages what it does to make sure food is safe and so that the officer can be confident standards will be maintained in the future.
- Ratings may be made public immediately by the local council but can also be appealed by the restaurant in question if they feel the assessment was unfair.
These are the three Basingstoke eateries to have received food hygiene ratings recently.
