WINCHESTER School of Art ran its own Fashion Week.

The event schedule was developed by Amanda Bragg-Mollison, Programme Leader in Fashion Marketing.

It aimed to promote Winchester School of Art and open up the campus to local people to engage with a host of fashion related activities including exhibitions, talks, pop up shops, fashion films, workshops and two fashion shows.

Ms Bragg-Mollison said: "The two shops were a huge success, with one situated on the beautiful WSA campus on Park Avenue Winchester, selling vintage clothing and products designed and made by our very own fashion students. The other shop based all week at the Visitor Information Centre on the High St Winchester (closes this Saturday 17th July 3pm), has been selling reworked garments made from Salvation Army clothing donations- part of a year two fashion design project called, ‘Future you / Future Fashion’.

"All sale proceeds have gone straight back to The Salvation Army charity."

A free public exhibition called ‘ReBurberry’ ran all week at the WSA Gallery, featuring garments made from donations of left-over Burberry fabric, together with black and white photographic images and a film from the photoshoot.

The exhibition drew a huge crowd as it features an image from the original Burberry factory, which was based where Winchester Churches Nightshelter is now.

"Sold out Printed Textiles, Weave, Design and Knit workshops, as well as online talks on sustainable fashion fashion and Careers in Fashion rounded off a packed schedule," said Ms Bragg-Mollison.

"There were also a series of fashion films on display on screen at the campus and online via the Winchester Fashion Week website.

A finale to the week on campus came last night by way of the BA Fashion Design runway show, featuring graduates of 2021 and a showstopping array of design. A ticketed Sold out show, the audience included both press and public, who all enjoyed a fabulous physical fashion experience- it’s been a long time coming."

The fashion department wishes to host similar events in future.
