SAINTS will be without Stuart Armstrong again against Wolves on Sunday while Theo Walcott has returned to first-team training.

The Scot hasn’t featured this season after a calf injury ruled him out before the Manchester United game, and Saints will continue to be forced to march on without him.

Walcott also likely won’t be available for immediate selection but has been welcomed back to training by manager Ralph Hasenhuttl. There was no further update on the progress of youngster Will Smallbone, who continues to recover from an ACL suffered in January.

Saints will also face the lengthy absence of defensive stalwart Jack Stephens, who hobbled off at Manchester City and will now miss up to three months of action with a knee tendon injury.

Nathan Redmond: Saints squad will help Jack Stephens injury

Speaking ahead of the Wolves visit, Hasenhuttl said: “Yeah, we know about Jack Stephens that he is out for longer now it’s a pity.

“He was an important player for me and we lose him, but we will have these situations over the season and we will find as quick as possible the right alternative.”

“Theo Walcott was back in training today for first time in a long time, and the rest yeah so far fit, Stuey (Armstrong) still unavailable and that’s it.

“Stuey has not been training with the group, and yes Theo was this week starting with the team sessions so it will take time until he’s on the level but it’s good to have him back, and important to give him training sessions with the team.”
