AN ANDOVER man has been arrested on suspicion of conspiring to cause grievous bodily harm with intent after a 20-year-old man was attacked in the town on Saturday, October 2.

The arrested man, 21, has been released on police bail, but the cops are now appealing for witnesses for the assault.

The victim sustained injuries to his face and ribs after he was attacked on a pathway between the A3093 and Pilgrim’s Way at around 12.30pm-1pm.

He was assaulted a number of times before the suspect made off.

The suspect is described as a white man, aged between 19 and 23, skinny-built, with medium length ginger hair.

He was also described as having a pale complexion with freckles. He was wearing a teal and mint coloured hooded tracksuit with white trainers and was riding a BMX-style bike.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said: “We are appealing for witnesses after an assault in Andover this weekend.

“The incident happened on 2 October between 12.30pm and 1pm on a pathway between the A3093 and Pilgrim’s Way.

“The victim, a 20-year-old man, had been walking on the pathway, from the direction of the Tesco, when he was hit from behind by an unknown man.

“He was then assaulted a number of times before the suspect made off. The victim sustained injuries to his face and ribs.
