AN ANDOVER man has been charged after a serious attack on a police community support officer in Winchester.
Officers investigating a serious assault on a PCSO on Wednesday have charged Jon Edward Ball, 41, of Turin Court, Andover, with causing grievous bodily harm with intent to resist arrest, and assault an officer by beating.
Two PCSOs were deployed to Silver Hill, in the city centre, at around 3pm on October 20 to a concern for welfare call after a man was seen slumped in a bus stop.
One of the officers was then assaulted causing a serious injury to his arm. The other PCSO in attendance was also assaulted but was not injured.
Ball was remanded in custody and was due to appear before Basingstoke Magistrates Court today, Friday October 22.
