TEST Valley Borough Council’s Mayor Mark Cooper visited Little London in Andover this week to plant a commemorative oak.
The parish had been awarded the gift of a commemorative tree from the borough council.
Mayor Cooper placed a plaque next to the tree, dedicated to those who lost their lives in Covid and all those volunteers who helped others.
He and his wife were met welcomed by Cllr Paul Dunning, chair of Smannell Parish Council and Cllr Andy Hooker Chair of the Little London Playing Field Committee.
They said they were honoured to have been presented with this tree and the recognition of the efforts the parish had made during difficult times.
Mayor Cooper said: “I hope this tree flourishes and will remind us of the challenges we have faced over the last two years”.
Residents attended including one of the oldest residents Mrs Zena Aspinall, 93, who has lived in the village since 1957.
