A PRIMARY school in Andover closed early on Monday (November 29) after its heating system stopped working.
Balksbury Junior School on Floral Way was forced to send students and staff home before the end of the day, with parents and guardians having to arrange to collect their children as soon as possible.
A statement from the school posted just after 2pm on Hampshire County Council’s emergency closures page reads: “Balksbury Junior School is closing for the remainder of today due to the heating not working.
“We have heating engineers on site working to resolve the issues. We will update parents by the end of the day of when school will be able to re-open.
“Currently the school is too cold to keep the children in class.”
However, Balksbury Infant School remained open.
It comes after Stockbridge Primary School announced it would not be opening this morning, also due to a heating failure.
