A MAN from Andover has been lighting up the streets with his own Christmas lights switch on ceremony.

James Saviour, who lives on Sunnyside Close in Charlton held the ceremony on Thursday, November 25 at his residence.

James puts on a Christmas light show every year for the community to enjoy.

The event was even attended by the Mayor of Test Valley, Cllr Mark Cooper who switched on the lights.

James said: “It went very well, and we had very good public appreciation.”

He told The Advertiser how members of the public have “thanked” him for “lighting up their village.”

He added: “When I hear everyone talking about them it makes me feel very excited.”

“Its all my hard work and it’s a one man show, I like to do it all myself.

“This year I think they are one of the best lights I have ever done. Every time people stop their car and come to have a look and say it is looking very lovely.

“They are always encouraging me.”

Members of Andover Rotary Club, who collected money raised through the event were also at the ceremony.

The event raised £209.61, which was given to the Andover Rotary Club to be put towards the Aluminium Hold Foil Recycling project.
