AN ANDOVER charity has cancelled its festive event, due to take place next week.

The Countess of Brecknock Hospice has reluctantly decided to cancel its Light up a Life Dedication Service which was due to be held on Thursday, December 9 at 6.30pm at St Mary’s Church in Andover.

Michele Gard, charity director, said: “We feel in light of the uncertainty surrounding the new Covid strain and as a medical charity, we should not be encouraging a large number of people to meet together indoors at this time.

“I know many people will be disappointed by this news but hope they will understand why we have cancelled.”

The service will now be filmed and it will be broadcast through the Hospice website, Facebook and YouTube channel on Friday, December 10 at 7.30pm.

Full details will be on www.cobh.org.uk.

It will then available through the website, as and when people want to watch it.

The Light Up a Life Christmas Tree will still shine outside the hospice entrance until twelfth night, with a light shining for each person for whom a dedication and donation has been made.

Money raised from Light Up a Light means the hospice can be there to help when help is needed most.
