VOLUNTEERS at Andover's vaccination clinic have been on the receiving end of verbal abuse, police have reported.

Officers stopped by the Chantry Centre unit this afternoon, and were met with reports of unkind words being dorected towards the staff there.

Taking to Twitter, Andover Police wrote: "We called into Andover's vaccination centre today and were dismayed to hear that volunteers have been receiving verbal abuse from some.

"Whether you have an appointment or not, please be a patient patient. The staff are trying their best to help but it can get busy #BeKind."

The Chantry Centre unit is offering walk-in for boosters, as well as appointments for first and second doses of Pfizer jabs for anyone aged 16 years and over.

Walk ins are limited to a certain number available each clinic, and are given on a first come first served basis.

As well as the session which ran between 8.30am and 12pm on Wednesday (December 1), the unit will be facilitating further sessions on Friday, December 3 from 8.30am to 12pm and Sunday, December 5 from 10am to 12pm.

The Advertiser has contacted Hampshire and Isle of Wight CCG - which runs the clinic - for comment.
