Vicky McClure leads the cast of ITV's new thriller Trigger Point about the Metropolitan Police's bomb squad.

It will see McClure's character Lana Washington called out to a London housing estate to investigate a potential bomb factory and suspected bomb-maker where events take a dark turn.

The six-part series was written by Daniel Brierley, and was executive produced by Jed Mercurio, who helped create Line of Duty, another series where McClure also plays a lead role.

Bomb disposal experts are also known as 'expos' and McClure talked about how the production had two on set and helped prepare her for the role.

When she discussed the show on This Morning she expressed her surprise to learn that real expos often take their helmets off when approaching a device.

She said: "It could knock the device or it could impair your vision at any point.

"They went, 'well you'd take your helmet off at that point', I went what? And they went 'if that bombs going off..."
