A man died while in custody at Winchester Prison, an inquest heard.
Michael Andrew Horne, 58, died while serving a sentence on December 21.
The inquest heard that Mr Horne was suffering chest pains and deteriorated after catching pneumonia.
The cause of death was given as natural causes.
Area coroner Jason Pegg adjourned the inquest at Winchester Coroner's Court to take place on August 24.
There will have to be an inquest because Mr Horne died in custody.
