AN ANDOVER care home has been locked down due to confirmed positive coronavirus cases.

Willow Court care home, on Charlton Road, is closed. tovisitors for a "short period" in order to "prevent spread of infection".

A source told the Advertiser that two positive cases have been discovered within the care home, leading to the lockdown.

The Advertiser asked Hampshire County Council, which runs the home, to confirm the number of cases and actions taken.

A spokesperson said: “All County Council care homes have stringent hygiene measures in place and follow national guidance in relation to visiting which may include ceasing visits for a temporary period, if there are confirmed cases of COVID-19 in a residential or nursing home.

"This has occurred at our Willow Court care home where the decision has been made in consultation with the UK Health Security Agency to close for a short period to prevent the spread of infection and ensure the safety of our residents, staff and any visiting families or loved ones.

"The latter have been kept fully informed and we look forward to opening our doors again to visitors in due course.”
